Challenge

Consensys is the leading blockchain and web3 software company. Since 2014, Consensys has been at the forefront of innovation, pioneering technological developments within the web3 ecosystem. Our team was tasked expand and redesign the old Consensys website in all aspects. We needed to create a visually impactful website that was innovative, that reflected the mission and vision of Consensys and put a spot light on over 40+ startups within Consensys.

Modularity-1
Solution

Our team conceptualized and developed the new modular website system to help define Consensys and give all its startups their personal expression and functionality. We developed a design solution composed of over 100 different customizable modules, color schemes and adaptable grids. Through this solution, we could cater to every startup’s specific needs and maintain the Consensys over style throughout.

Designing for Modularity

Modular systems are challenging. We carefully curated a color scheme that could work on a wide variety of background colors, gradients, textures, and low-contrast scenarios. We understood that we were working with teams of highly creative people and we needed to give them tools for them to express their products within the constraints of Consensys. The palette had to be varied but bright and optimistic, the typography needed to feel neutral but legible and modern, and lastly, we needed to create button systems that could be adjustable and stylistically interchangeable.

Modules Modules & more Modules..

Determining the grid was a key part of the design, understanding how the grid had to flex in a variety of different contexts to create symmetrical and asymmetrical modules was important to be able to create interactions and animations. We created over 100+ modules in different formats, sizes, colors, forms, and layouts to accommodate any possible design aesthetic and function.
